There are times when everything clicks into place. We all have them, those effortless days.
If you consider the circumstances when it last happened, you'll probably find two things:
1) You were carefree and thus full of energy:
2) You were in tune with what was going on.
In a word, you were lucky.
We see therefore that luck arises from attunement, albeit unconsciously, betwen our inner & outer reality/ies. In other words, one unified reality exists at such moments.
Perhaps, having had this insight, we have tried to rercreate a carefree mood – yet found the magic mytseriously absent. Why? Because experience is like a moving water – even when it flows in the same course it is now the product of different dynamics to what it was then. One thing we can all attest to is that any exercise of will or intention is generally inimical to the fragile conditions which luck demands.
An important step therefore to understanding where the right spot is for us, is to accept that there is never a way back to a longed-for state of feeling – only a way forward to a situation where we may possible reencounter it in a new form. This is particularly true of relationships.
The question gets a whole lot more challenging if I explore luck in relation to my spiritual dynamic. Nearly every spiritual path teaches that in order to make progress I must exercise my will to choose one direction in preference to the millions of others. The more actively I follow this advice, the more I am likely to negate the carefree conditions luck demands.
And here the conundrums multiply.
Can I pursue my spiritual path wholeheartedly and yet remain open to contradictory experiences?
Should I just go with the flow rather than hold to any one direction?
How can I create favourable conditions for magic /luck?
There is no single answer – everyone's different. There's no single route to any spiritual destination. (The distorting effect of religions is to articulate a certain note and address only those people whom that vibration manifests, creating the effect of marginalising anyonelse.) But there is an underlying spiritual truth – balance.
We are driven by impulse & conditioning to race for ladders, but it is often the snakes that of adversity that make the best teachers. The Christian concept that truth is a revelation that comes from a book has taught us to see knowledge as something outside ourselves - but this is an illusion, as the great mystics have repeatedly reminded us.
The snake of adversity on which we have unhappily landed may in fact be -to the unconscious- the snake of healing wisdom. If you consider the caduceus: the writhing snake takes us throu a series of wild arcs as we veer erratically in our initial search for identity, but happily each is balanced with its twin. As we ascend the snakes of awareness the swings are less wild and the crossing points more frequent, until we see that the two paths are in fact one.
At this point, perhaps, we see that the buffeting of fate was designed to bring us to a natural feeling of centredness - not a prescribed place, nor yet an intellectually determined one, but one where the native energy or ’fluence of the godhead can use us as it sees fit.

Being & Becoming
"No matter how far you travel, no matter how grand your position, it always comes back to this … you and me, you and your self – your true heart which is me, the eternal truth, the entire power of the universe indwelling each human.
Truly, you are Gods, each of you is God. You only strive to have power over others if you have not realised this. For in fact you do have power over others, each of you has power over everybody.
You doubt this? Look at the power of a psychotic gunman to strike fear into the hearts of people all over the globe. Look at the power of a spiritual figure to influence and uplift people during and after hir life. Your influence on others will match the degree of your abandonment to the presiding principle of your life – be it towards spiritual evolution or towards the gratification of physical appetites. That is elementary metaphysics.
Since, for the purpose of earthly life, your physical body is the sheath guarding the spiritual within, it (and the messages it gives) are like a curtain or cloth preventing light falling too strongly on a photo-sensitive conductor. Should that occur prematurely (for whatever reason or accident ) it can result in the person’s inner self-godhead being burned, or even burned out.
What is supposed to happen, except in people where accelerated development is karmically appropriate, is that as the strength of the inner light grows ever brighter so not only does it penetrate the cloth -because the fabric decays with age- but also because, with concentration and commitment, the light frequencies themselves can be extended beyond the normal range of human perception until it is capable of creating the equivalent of ultra-violet or infra-red impressions – even on people to whom such spectra are not visible. Spiritual adepts will recognise such qualities according to the measure of their own enlightenment.
So you see, you don’t need Power because you have power. One can be grasped and shaken but falls apart at a touch – the other is slow to grow (in the initial stages) but is indestructible because it is an atomic constituent of the universe. In this respect you are like coral: you have individuality but you only realise its true magnificence by allowing yourself to be formed into a great metaphysical structure in support of other life-forms.
‘Why me? Why here? Why now?’ you may say. I reply ‘Why not you, here, now? And if not who, where, when?’ Is this not the true purpose of existence, being matter to become one with spirit, being spirit to become one with matter. Being, and yet being human. That is godhead."

Your vibration attracts like minds
"Once no requirement for sanctification existed. Before humans started to invent things they had no power to differentiate themselves from other life-forms. But once humans began to use tools as a means of willing events into existence, purity of motive began to be important. Prior to that life-forms had no intention beyond life itself.
"At this stage will became a part of the world’s evolutionary path (as it had always been implicitly). Will is necessarily free will, and therefore exists at more evolved psychological level than instinct which follows a path without knowing why. So you can see that for anyone who desires to achieve self-knowledge(=one-pointedness=personal destiny) sanctification of intention is a prerequisite. By sanctification I mean deep inner examination, and a conscious willing toward ‘self-knowledge=one-pointedness=personal destiny’. The strength/depth of that conscious willing puts you in touch on an inner plane (call it etheric or ESP if you will) with others who will the same.

To you who cry ‘will it ever be morning?’ I say look at me in love – look at the darkness, stare intently at the forms that throng around you. Because you’re insisting it’s night you can’t see the helpers that surround you: but the world you experience is simply the one you believe exists.

We were having to sell our London house as a result of losing around £14k on publishing CataList. Not only did a sudden bidding war between buyers raise the price to £13500 above our asking price, but the people who bought the house were willing to give us 4 months to move.
I had been i/v for a job in BBC Religion. I didn't get it but the head of the unit was very interested in the pilgrimage I hoped to make to Sai Baba & wanted to commission me to make a radio doc about it.
The only problem was that having found a house in the country, our bank was refusing to agree a lower mortgage on the new house - despite being willing to continue the higher mortgage if we stayed put. As matters stood we would have had to move almost immediately on my return, so packing up the house fell largely to my wife - which didnt enchant her. What enchanted her even less was the prospect of my leaving for India with this unresolved. I tried everything possible in the week prior to my Saturday departure.
On Friday I spent as much of the day in prayer as I could. But despite several calls to the bank I couldnt persuade them to change their minds. I really didnt know what to do. I felt I was supposed to go, but obviously I couldn't if this wasn't fixed. By about 6.30 I was in despair, the banking day had finished. Then came a phone call – a supervisor had been 'checking our figures' & found that his staff had made an 'error': he was approving the loan.
